Our friend J, over at Hot, Holy & Humorous, had a funny story about a misunderstanding linked to talking to her husband while he was watching sports. Go read Are You Sure You’re Communicating? for a laugh and good point.

Men generally do not multi-task as well as women do. We do however try to fake it. So, if you talk to us while we are focused on something else, we will make noises which seem to indicate we are listening even if we have no idea what you are actually saying.

If he is distracted, assume he heard only part of what you said. Further, assume he may not have correctly heard what he thinks he heard.
