My mother was fond of saying “If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.”

I think this is valid, especially in marriage. Not engaging is usually encouraging problems to grow. Even when something is “his fault” you have the power to choose how you react. Your choices will make the situation better or worse.
I would extend this to marriage in general in our culture. Marriage has taken a real beating the last couple of decades, and if we just sit by doing nothing we’re part of the problem. How can you help the marriages around you?
