So Much Misinformation About Female Sexuality

I post about this to the men on The Generous Husband fairly regularly, but I don’t think I’ve said much or anything about it here.

You would think women are less affected than men by the wrong information about their sexuality, but this is not as true as I wish it were. One problem is we get the wrong information from a very young age. Another problem is we don’t tend to talk about our sexuality, especially in church circles. So women get wrong information and assume that’s how their body is supposed to work.

So Much Misinformation About Female Sexuality

As for the why of the wrong information, human sexuality is a rather new area of study. Even worse, there has been far most study of men than women. And worst of all much of what was learned about male sexuality was declared to be true for women too – without any evidence that it was so.

So, I’m going to do a couple of posts about this issue the next few weeks. I will be covering the less than accurate ideas that relaxation is the key to great sex, that women are all wired the same, and that women get turned on as men do.

I should note that female sexuality is unique to each woman, so none of what I say will apply to everyone. What I will write is based on recent research, most of it done by women.

On a related issue, I’m going to be doing A Different Kind of Sex Challenge next month. Follow the link to learn about that over on TGH.
