Recently in a comment over on TGH, I replied to a gentleman by saying, “In reality, your wife is caught in a lifestyle that doesn’t honour or bless marriages. I’m so sorry.“
I’ve already said over on TGH that men and women both do this, but I think women are more prone to it. Men tend to mess up their marriages because of selfishness (which women do as well) rather than by blindly falling into a cultural trap.

The big one I see is making one’s children so important their father becomes an afterthought at best. He is expected to do a number of things, but his wife is often too busy with the children to give him any of her valuable time. He wants to go someplace with her? Nope, too busy. He wants to just spend time with her? Nope, she has places to be. He wants sex more than 3.5 times a month? Nope, he’s being selfish of her time!
I’ve seen women get so busy with school, or extracurricular, or church activities they spend only minutes a day alone and awake with their husband. They say they love him, but their actions tell a different story. They say they respect him, but nothing in their lives shows that.
God cares a great deal about our marriages and letting them die because we’ve made something else more important is not acceptable. It’s not good for husband or wife, and it’s not good for the kids either. Doing it God’s way is always better, even if it requires being counter-cultural.
~ Paul – I’m XY, and I mention this because I hear it from men often.
