Marriage is intended to be for life. That means we have to take the long view. Unfortunately, we’re wired to usually take the short view.

The long view means working for true healing and change rather than pushing for fast change. It means being okay with a rough season because you know it’s only a season. It means not complaining when your husband is sick, overworked, or overloaded and isn’t doing the things he usually does.
One study found most people who were unhappy in their marriage were happy a couple of years later. This was true even when there was no real effort at change. The lesson here is time can make a big, positive difference.
I’m not suggesting you ignore real problems or abuse. But some things will pass on their own and making too big a deal about them may make things worse.
