If You Want Help Accept His Way Of Doing It

I know a fellow who from the start of his marriage helped his wife with the laundry without her having to say a word. But she broke him of it by endlessly complaining about the way he did it. Now I realise it’s possible to do laundry in a way that harms the clothes, and that’s certainly wrong. But his biggest sin, according to her, was that he would not fold the towels “the right way”. Come on, it’s a towel, how can it be folded incorrectly?

Now if he put the towels in the wrong place so that she could not find them, that I can see as being a problem. If he folded nice clothing so that it got wrinkles, that’s a problem. But complaining that her husband doesn’t fold towels in the only way she finds acceptable is a sign of a problem on her part that is going to hurt the marriage. It’s also a sure way to get hubby to stop helping.

BTW, he also stopped helping with the dishes because he got tired of being told he was not loading the dishwasher the right way. The fact that the dishes came out clean didn’t matter, he apparently was not doing it as God intended.

If you want help, be reasonable about different when it’s not wrong. And if you can’t get help, ask yourself if you broke your husband of helping by telling him his acceptable way of doing things was wrong.
