I once bought my lovely wife a vacuum cleaner for Christmas. If you think that disqualifies me from writing marriage advice to men I get it. But I have never and would never suggest men do what I did.

My wife was thrilled with the gift. It’s what she wanted. As a very practical person, an appliance that makes her life easier is considered a great gift. She wouldn’t have enjoyed jewellery nearly as much.

The point is I know my wife. I know who she is, how she thinks and feels, and what she will and won’t enjoy. I know where she’s like other women and I know where she’s not like other women.

When I give advice here, it’s aimed at the average couple. When I suggest you say, try, or do something with your hubby, I am aiming at the average man. Unless your husband is average in every way, some of what I say here is not true of him and some of what I suggest is not a good thing to try/do with him. That said, unless your husband is really unusual, most of what I say will be about him and will be a good idea to try/do with him.
