“That’s Naughty” Is A Bad Excuse

Last week over on The Generous Husband I warned the guys about The Naughty Trap. Basically, I said a lot of us start having sex when we should not, being naughty if you will, and we get off on sex being naughty. But while many men find this is turn on, most women don’t.

Today I want to talk about the other side of this – labelling sexual things as naughty so you can reject them.

Neon sign reading "Naughty"

The truth is God gave us a great deal of leeway when it comes to married sex. For example, the Bible in no way forbids oral sex. In fact, Song of Songs mentions it done by and on both spouses. Much of what certain Christians call naughty, kinky, or wrong is just fine with God, provided it’s something both spouses want and enjoy.

So, if you reject lingerie because it’s naughty, may I please beg you to think about it more. I assure you God has no problem with you wearing lacy, see-through, black, or any other kind of sexy undies in the privacy of your home. If you don’t want to do that, fine, but please be honest about why you don’t want to do it. “Naughty” is a cop-out, not a reason. Usually, most of what is behind “naughty” is fear and/or bad teaching. Don’t let those things keep you from the sex life God intended for you.

~ Paul – I’m XY, and I know God’s not uptight about sex!
