I thought I had written about this here at the same time I did over on The Generous Husband, but apparently not. So here goes.
Over on Quora, I see a lot of folks calling their spouse or significant other a narcissist. Of course, most of these people could not even accurately define narcissism and their spouse had not been diagnosed by someone who can, but that doesn’t matter to them. They have latched onto that bogus diagnosis and they stick with it because it gives them an excuse to ignore their spouse or treat them badly.

And of course, when they share their diagnosis with their friends, they tell them how right they are, because that’s what friends do. (Well not real friends, but I digress.)
While narcissism is the diagnosis of the moment, it could also be a borderline personality order or something else. And then, of course, there’s calling your spouse a sex addict so you can feel good about saying no to sex 95% of the time.
If you think your spouse has some disorder or problem, get help. If they won’t go with you, go alone. A professional can’t diagnose based on your description, but they can provide ways of dealing with what is going on.
