My wonderful wife is all about baby steps. She has used that term 75 times in her blog over the last decade.

And she’s right. Baby steps work and often they are the best way to go about change. Trying to do something big is difficult and if you get stuck it’s discouraging for you and those who are looking for change in you. When you break things into small steps it’s easier and you can see your progress better.
Doing something huge all at once is impressive if you manage it, but if you fail it’s a total bust and you feel bad about it. It’s also a big let down for those who saw you working at it and expected a big finish. Baby steps are far less flashy, but if you can keep with it you can accomplish big things one little step at a time.
Be it something you want to do or something you want from your husband or a child, learn to encourage and praise baby steps.
~ Paul – I’m XY, and I’m learning to embrace baby steps.
