Over on Quora, a young lady asked if there was scientific proof that men are stronger than women. How can someone grow up around the other sex and have any doubt about that? It must mean she was putting what she has been told or has chosen to believe ahead of what her experience should have taught her.

The reality is men and women are not the same. And the differences go way beyond our plumbing.

I understand that for centuries men made up things about women that were not true as a way of controlling them. I get that men have exaggerated their own abilities to be in control. And for the record, lying to manipulate and control is wrong. But lying to fix past lies is just as wrong. Truth is truth and those who know and deal with truth do better than those living in a false reality.

I expect this kind of thing from the world, but I have started to see it in the Church the last few years and that really worries me. The Bible says God made us male and female, and God has more than a few things to say about the differences between men and women. (And He did not say many of the things often attributed to Him.) Denying or ignoring those things is rejecting God and that’s a problem.

You don’t need to think or be like a man to have worth and value. You have worth and value because God says you do and any man who says otherwise is wrong. The truth is God gave us unique personalities and gifts, and some of those tend to run along gender lines. If we want to follow God, we should embrace our differences and work to make sure each person is given the chance to do what God has for them in life.
