A couple of years ago I wrote a post over on The Generous Husband titled How Unfinished Things Kill Sex. I used the image on this post and asked, “Do you know why the woman in this picture is fine with being seduced then and there?” I said the answer was in the foreground: the dishes are done and the kitchen is clean. I went on to explain that trying to seduce her in another room wouldn’t change things because she would know the dishes aren’t done and still be distracted by that fact.

This is a real issue for many women and how her husband feels about it is irrelevant. If he loves her he will try to accommodate her.
That said, for some women, there is ALWAYS something they feel needs to be done. If this is the case, and those things being undone keeps her from sex or other important tasks, then something needs to change.
I understand that housework is never done. You put up all the laundry and *poof* there’s more. Likewise for dishes. So you have to set some boundaries and live within them.
Some of the boundaries are on your family. If they want anything other than water between meals, they better be able to clean up any mess they make and better do it. If you make a mess, you clean it up. This is common courtesy and your kids need to be trained to be decent people. If your hubby was not trained this way growing up, have some discussions with him. Explain to him how his not doing things affect you.
The other part of the boundaries is learning to be okay with the fact there’s half a basket of laundry or the living room is overdue to be vacuumed. Expecting the kitchen to be clean after each meal is reasonable. Expecting the entire house to be neat all the time is not. It’s all about finding a sane balance.
Life is too short and people are too important to miss out because something is not finished!
