This afternoon I walked out of my son’s house into a beautiful day. I looked at the trees, the sky, the pond, and all the clean up that has been done the last couple of weeks, and I felt great gratitude for where I live and who I live with. As I walked up the hill to my place I thanked God for the life I have and prayed for the folks who live here. Then Lori and I sat outside having a cold drink and some apple slices before we had the grandsons up for the evening.

I talk to the guys over on TGH often about the power of gratitude. I’ve been somewhat remiss about discussing it here. Taking time to think about the good things in our lives makes us feel better about our lives. Likewise for our marriages.
At first, it can be difficult to focus on the good because the things we don’t like tend to grab our attention more easily. But if you develop a gratitude habit it becomes automatic. So make a point of thinking about the good things in your life each evening at dinner or when you go to bed. Even better, start a gratitude journal and make daily entries.
