A group of users on The Marriage Bed forums do a question of the day. Some are just for fun, some are informative, and some, like last Friday, can really make you think:
What are you gonna do for yourself today? For your spouse?
Self care is important.

What do you do for yourself? What do you do to relax? What do you do to have fun? Doing these things is not selfish! You can’t be the person, wife, and mother you should be when you’re stressed, tired, and unfulfilled. A certain amount of self-care is critical for mental health.
Sadly a lot of us, and especially women, were taught that self-care is selfish or even sinful! Nothing could be further from the truth. We see Jesus engaging in self-care in the Gospels; if He needed it, how much more do we? If you were taught this lie, please see it for the destructive thing it is and choose to reject the lie and start caring for yourself as God intended.
If your husband seems to believe this lie (or believes it for you but not himself!) you have a problem. So you have to decide if you are going to let him keep you from doing what is right with God. I realise it’s not that simple, but it’s the first step if you want to make a change.
~ Paul – I’m XY, and I’m learning self-care is neither selfish nor lazy.
