I’ve never thrown Lori a surprise party.

But you need not feel sorry for her.

I think I could throw a great surprise party and could keep it a complete secret. And, I’d enjoy doing it.

However, my wife isn’t big on surprises and she’s an introvert. I’m sure she would put on a good face and thank all her friends, but she would ‘t be enjoying it as much as the rest of us. She’d rather do something with me and know about it ahead of time.

When we fail to realise we’re different from our spouses, it’s easy to give them what we want even though it’s not nearly as great a thing for them.
