A while back on Quora, someone asked what it means when a guy says, “Whatever”.

It can mean a few things:

1.  It can mean “I don’t agree but I’m smart enough to know I should shut up before I make you mad.” Some men have learned disagreeing is always going to cost them, so they only do it when it really matters. This of course means the woman has a problem she needs to work on.
2. It can also mean, “I really don’t care enough to argue about it”. This could be about her, but it’s likely more about him. Some guys don’t want to talk much and poking something that could lead to a long discussion seems unwise to such men.
3. It can mean he knows he’s wrong but doesn’t want to admit it. Which is all about him.
4. It could also be his past speaking. If he had a girlfriend who got mad when he disagreed, he may be gun shy. Other guys are this way because of their mom. It’s also possible he has been repeatedly attacked for being wrong, so he chooses not to open himself up to that again.

If something really matters to you, push for more than a whatever. But if you do this often it’s not going to end well for either of you.
