Deck The Halls With Hunks Of Holly…

My father was ALL ABOUT Christmas and decorating to the max. Inside and out, nothing was safe. Ornaments hanging from the light fixtures, bowls of ornaments or figurines on every flat surface, elves hanging on the rungs of the bannister, and cloth wreathes with bells on every doorknob. I suspect my mom had given up fighting it long before I was aware. She helped decorate the tree, but otherwise, it was dad, my sister, and me.

Golden retriever in Santa hat and wrapped in twinkle lights.

I’ve seen this in other marriages. One will decorate anything that doesn’t move, the other would be fine with a small, simple tree. Or even less.

If your husband is a Christmas decorating fanatic and you’re not, let him enjoy himself. Participate enough that he feels you’re involved and more if you can.

If you’re the manic decorator and your husband isn’t, ask him for some help with specific things but don’t demand hours and hours of his time. Of course, you could decorate the house dressed in a sexy elf outfit and see if that helps his Christmas spirit.
