Being His Wife

This morning as we lay snuggling in bed, I thanked Lori for being my wife. I do this often and she knows what I mean by it. I’m not thanking her for saying yes all those years ago. I am thanking her for actively being a wife to me.

Husband and wife are not just titles, they’re roles. A ring and a ceremony don’t make him a husband or you a wife, they just make you married. Actually being a husband or wife takes a lot of work. Sometimes it’s a labour of love, which makes it easy, and sometimes a lot of sacrifice, which makes it difficult.

Fortunately, we don’t have to be perfect. If it’s obvious we’re trying, the inevitable rudeness and other failures are taken in stride. An honest apology always helps, but it’s the years of being and doing that really make the difference.

I hope your husband sees you as the greatest gift he ever received apart from salvation. If he does, keep loving and blessing him. If he does not that may be about him, but you can change how he sees you by working at being his wife.

Trying to donate and can’t? I have learned PayPal’s fancy new donation widget is not ready for primetime. It has not worked on a couple of posts and doesn’t work in most (all) email clients. Thanks to those of you who made me aware of the issues.

So if you want to give and have not had a link to do so, go here to give by credit card, or put “Paul & Lori” in the memo of your check and mail to:
