The other day we were at a stop sign. I watched a man walking down the street stop to fix an out-of-place stone in a retaining wall planter on the corner. He moved it, dug out some dirt with his hands, and placed the stone properly. He then dusted off his hands and continued his walk. The planter was part of the landscaping of an apartment complex. He might have lived there, but he didn’t come from the complex, and I suspect he was just walking past it.

Wives often express frustration that their guy always want to fix things rather than just listen to her talk about something that’s upsetting her. Men are programmed to be fixers. Seeing a problem and not trying to fix it is contrary to who we are, who God made us to be. And seeing a problem that is hurting someone we love and doing nothing about it would be exceedingly unloving.
That said, your wanting him to hear you is part of how God made you. With a bit of effort, you and hubby can both be who God made you to be. When he starts to offer a solution, tell him you want his input, but first you need him to fully hear how you feel about the situation.
