You have no doubt heard the saying “Happy wife, happy life”. My Lori has never liked that because it makes wives sound like unreasonable monsters who have to be appeased in order for a man to have a decent marriage.
I recently heard a different version of this, which some said predates the wife/life version: “Happy spouse, happy house.” I like that because it goes both ways.

The reality is, our life and happiness are significantly impacted by our spouse. Yes, some men, and women, use that as a way of controlling. But even if your husband is a kind, loving guy who tries to always treat you right, how he is feeling affects you and your household for good or bad.
I’m not suggesting that you are responsible for making your husband happy. Nor that he is responsible for making you happy. However, you can each do things that make happiness more likely for the other. If those things are easy and not too costly, it seems wise to me do to them.
