When your husband tells you he is about to come, have you ever wondered why he can’t stop it if he knows it’s going to happen?

The problem here is language use. What a woman sees as “coming” is semen leaving the penis. But this process is actually the second of the two phases of ejaculation.

Ejaculation starts with the emission stage. First, the neck of the bladder closes to prevent semen from going into the bladder. Then the prostate secrets fluids into the urethra. This is followed by fluid from the vas deferens, which includes the sperm. Next is fluid from the seminal vesicles. There are contractions during the emission stage as the various parts add their fluid. Once the semen is mixed and ready, then the expulsion phase starts with muscles at the base of the penis contracting to expel the semen in spurts. 

When the emission phase starts, a man feels the contractions. So when he says “I’m coming” he doesn’t mean his is about to do it, he means it is already underway. It will be a moment before you see the result of that, but it has started, and it can not be stopped. This is why it is sometimes called the point of no return.
