About Thanksgiving, our little commune did a drawing for a Christmas gift exchange. I heard several of the women say they hoped they would not get a guy, because we are so hard to shop for. I think men are much easier to shop for than women, but I guess that’s because I am one. So if this is really an issue, then allow me to help by offering my updated gift giving guide for guys.

2023 Guy Gift Guide

Guys are not all the same, but what we find “shiny” is fairly common. Below are some things I really like that I think most men would see as great gifts. 

Wireless Bluetooth Noise Cancelling Headphones

My son says noise-canceling headphones have saved his sanity. He wears them to cut wood and to cut the noise of two noisy boy children. These include a microphone so he can take calls without removing them. Long-lasting batteries will run almost two days on a single charge.

53W 4-Port USB Charger

It seems there are never enough USB charging ports! This little power house can charge four devices. 

As Tim the Toolman Taylor would say “more power”!

Needle Nose Pliers Multitool 

One day my son, our neighbour, and I all reached into our pocket and pulled out this exact same multitool. It’s a sturdy, mid-price option that puts a whole lot of tools in your pocket or glove box. The fact that we all looked at all the choices on Amazon and bought the same one suggests it should please most men.

Rechargeable Magnetic Flashlights

I’ve never met a guy who doesn’t love a great flashlight. I mean it’s the ultimate shiny thing!

These LED lights are extra useful because the magnet allows you to stick it up, freeing a hand. It does narrow beam or floodlight. I bought lights like these for several friends a few years ago and they are still going and still being used regularly. This light can also be zoomed, making it even handier! 

Energizer LED Headlamp PRO (2-Pack)

A great light for crawling around under a house or working on pretty much anything in the dark. Both hands are free, and you have light where you look. This is not the first flashlight I usually go for, but when I use it I’m really glad I have it.

Of course, you have to hide this from children and grandchildren because they love it. Or give them one of their own, as it’s a two-pack.

1TB Waterproof Thumb Drive

The price of flash drives has dropped almost as fast as their capacity has increased. If your hubby is at all geeky, he probably has a number of smaller drives. Get him one that can replace all the rest, for just $30!

This stylish drive can be put on a keychain and is rugged and waterproof, so he can keep it in his pocket all the time.

Great Stuff Pro Foam Dispensing Gun

If your husband uses a lot of this product, he will love this. My son, who does construction for a living, turned me on to Great Stuff Pro. The applicator shuts off at the tip, so no oozing when you release the trigger, and if you wipe the tip you can store the rest of the can for future use. I used one can eight or nine times over 10 days with no problem. (A can should be used in 30 days). It also has a flow control valve so you can get exactly the bead you want. I always make a mess of myself when I use spray foam, but not with this! The kit shown here included cleaner, which you need when you store it without a can. If he uses foam regularly, this will save money long term, as the cans are bigger and less per unit, and there’s no more tossing half-used plugged up cans.

Mesh Safety Goggles

Great for a number of activities where regular goggles don’t work because they fog up. Lori and I both use them for weedeating. Also, great when running a chain saw. Not acceptable all the time, but so much better when they do the job. Safety gear you’ll use is better than anything you won’t!

Cut Gloves 

These cut-resistant gloves can protect your hands in the kitchen, but they are also great for woodworking, carving, carpentry, oyster shucking, and butchering that buck he just shot.

Ohropax Wax Ear Plugs 

These wax earplugs stay in place and really cut noise. Great for power tools, shooting, or that men’s retreat where the guys who snore always fall asleep first!

Aeropress Coffee Maker

The only way to make great coffee (IMHO)! Makes one or two cups of very smooth coffee. A short soak time reduces bitterness. Travels well, as you only need to add hot water. A must-have for any coffee connoisseur.

Upgrade with a Prismo Attachment – a no-drip attachment with a reusable metal filter that lets you pull a shot.

Every guy wants a drone, and with prices dropping, you can now get a decent one for under $100. This is Amazon’s Overall Pick, and has 4.8 stars with over 3,000 ratings.

This foldable drown can do some impressive moves, including a 360° flip. You can use your smartphone to draw a course, and the drone will follow it. It has 20 to 40 minutes of flight time, with a low battery warning.
