He’s Driven to Provide

So Saturday night we got down to -19°F (-28°C). We stayed warm, but woke to no water in the bathroom. There is a brass fitting under the bathroom that has frozen in the past, but I checked and found the whole house was without water. Lori wanted to snuggle in bed, but I couldn’t. I felt compelled to get the water on. I was not looking forward to army crawling under the house, but I needed to get it fixed.

I started by confirming it was just my house. It wasn’t, and the other two guys on the property were headed out to check it. Turns out the heater in the pump house had failed. It hadn’t been frozen long, and in short order it was back with no damage.

Frozen water pipe.

I know the other men felt as I did. This was a matter of life and death! If we didn’t get the water on, our families could die!

Okay, I know that’s not true, but it feels that way inside. Basic survival stuff like this is my responsibility because I have testicles. And I could not have relaxed until it was fixed. BTW, we still have the RV tank for non-potable water, and some gallons set aside, and I still felt this was a critical issue.
