My Generous Husband post on Monday suggested men get hand bells that say something like “ring for a hug” or “ring for a kiss”. As I was searching Amazon for links, I came across bells that say “Ring for Sex”.

My first thought was this is the kind of gift men buy for women, and most of them end up hidden in a night table drawer or tossed in the trash. It sounds like a great idea to us. We’d come running if our wife rang that bell! But I suspect most women would find it demanding or demeaning. 

Then I thought of ways women might find it useful. You could use it as a way of helping him understand how your sexuality works by giving him some guidelines for when ringing the bell would be most likely to be well received. You could keep it hidden away and only put it out when you are open to sex, making it an easy way of initiating sex. Or you could tell him it’s only for your use, to summon him when you want sex. Having it where you would see it could help you be more aware of sex, and make you consider how long it’s been.
