Surprising Truths About Sex Among Women Over 60

A couple of weeks ago, I talked about women who saw menopause as an excuse to stop having sex. Today I want to show the other side.

The Kinsey Institute teamed up with Cosmopolitan to ask woman over 60 about sex. Results were released last month. Three quarters of the women said age had not hurt the quality of their orgasms, and 20% said they were having the most satisfying orgasms of their life. And there are plenty of orgasms, with more than half of the women saying they orgasm every time or nearly every time.

As for desire, forty percent had as much desire as in the past, and 7% said they had stronger desire than at any other time in their life.

It seems there’s not a lot of middle ground when it comes to sex among older couples. You have those who have none or virtually none, and those who are having plenty. I suspect those who were in the middle in the past move into the none camp with age. Those who work at it keep enjoying sex, and often learn to enjoy it even more.

The bigger picture is, the same thing tends to be true of marriage in general. As we grow older, our marriages either get better or worse. Either we’ve learned how to have a great marriage, or we’ve given up.

So are you working towards a rewarding marriage and sex life when you retire? Or are you headed for unhappiness? If it’s the latter, I suggest you make some changes.
