I was out earlier today planting corn and sunflowers. Yeah, it’s late, but we had frost mid-June, so you know. We get most of our seeds from MIgardener. They put on the front of the package the approximate seed count. Being a bit OCD, I counted seeds as I planted. The ten envelopes I planted had 25% to 75% more seeds than they claimed. I’d have been happy with the number stated, plus or minus a couple. I’d have felt cheated if most were short. But because they exceeded what they advertised, I’m very happy.

The same applies to what folks in my life do. And that includes my wife. If she does what she says, that’s good. If she occasionally falls a bit short, that’s not a big deal. Always falling short would be a problem. But routinely going above and beyond makes me feel blessed in deed.

There are all kinds of ways this plays out in our marriages. How are you doing?
