But what if you don’t find your guy hard, and can’t make him hard? ED is a common issue, and embarrassment or shame can keep him from dealing with it.
A variety of things can cause occasional difficulty getting erect. Stress, exhaustion, and alcohol are common culprits. If not getting hard, or hard enough for intercourse, is the norm, something is wrong. While ED is more common as a man ages, it’s not inevitable. The majority of sixty-year-old men can get enough of an erection for intercourse.
Some underlying causes of ED are conditions that can kill him, so his doctor really needs to know about it. Beyond that, here are a few things that could help:
Slow Is Okay: As a man gets older, it takes more to get him fully erect. Most men will need stimulation of the penis at some point. It’s normal to get hard at first but go soft during foreplay if you’re not touching him.
Hard, But Not Hard Enough: He might get erect, but not be firm enough for penetration. A penis ring can fix this.
Now You See It, Now You Don’t: If he gets a good erection but can’t maintain it, a penis ring may help.
No Erection required: A man doesn’t need an erection to have an orgasm. Lube him up and use your hands on the head of his penis. Focus on the underside. Your thumb under with a finger on top works well. Oral sex is a great way to make him climax when he’s not hard enough for intercourse.
Drugs: Generic version of Viagra® and Cialis® are now available, which has brought the price way down. Most insurance won’t cover it, but Amazon Pharmacy has it for less than a dollar a pill. If you go with a drug, I suggest Tadalafil (Cialis®) as it lasts way longer. If he takes a low dose pill daily, he is ready to go any time.
Don’t let ED, or embarrassment about it, rob you of a great sex life!
